Plan your journey on the proposed Phase-1 network of the Surat Metro.
The Surat Metro is currently under construction. The first priority section is expected to become operational by December 2024. The entire Phase-1 project, covering both Red and Green lines, is aimed for completion by 2027. Official dates will be announced by Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC).
While the final fare chart is not yet released, it will be based on the distance traveled, similar to other Indian metros. The minimum fare is expected to be around ₹10 to ₹15. Contactless smart cards will likely offer a discount on every journey. This tool provides an estimated fare for planning.
The DREAM City metro station on the Red Line is being built specifically to serve the Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City. This station will provide direct access for thousands of people working in and visiting the new Surat Diamond Bourse.
Yes to the railway station, but not directly to the airport in Phase 1. The proposed Surat Railway Station metro station (Red Line) will connect to the main city railway station. However, there is no direct station at Surat Airport. The nearest planned station is 'Woman ITI', from where passengers will need other transport.
The main interchange station in the Phase-1 network will be Majura Gate. This will be the crucial point connecting the Red Line (Sarthana to DREAM City) with the Green Line (Bhesan to Saroli), allowing passengers to seamlessly switch between the two corridors.
The Surat Metro project is a mix of both. The majority of the metro corridors will be elevated (running on pillars). However, in the old, densely populated parts of the city, such as the stretch from Chowk Bazar to Surat Railway Station, the metro will be underground.
The total length of the Surat Metro Phase 1 project is approximately 40.35 kilometers. This includes two corridors: the Red Line (about 21.61 km) and the Green Line (about 18.74 km).
Sarthana and DREAM City are the two terminals of the Red Line. To travel between them, you will just need to board a single train. The journey will cover all 18 stations on the line, passing through important areas like Kapodra, Surat Railway Station, and Majura Gate.
Yes, the Surat Metro is planned to use modern, state-of-the-art trainsets that will be capable of driverless operation (UTO - Unattended Train Operation), similar to some of the newer lines on the Delhi Metro. This will be a first for Gujarat's metro systems.
The official route map for Phase 1 has been released by GMRC. This route finder tool visualizes the route for your selected journey. For the full network view, you can search for "Surat Metro Phase 1 map" to see the complete alignment of both the Red and Green lines across the city.
